Capt. Mark DeCabia was running the 48 Viking this week and with 4 big-eyes under there belt already from the Tri-State Overnight Tournament it was already a good start to the week and it only got better. One hour twenty minutes later 3 fish in the 125-170 pound class were sitting on the deck making it an even 10 big-eyes for the week.
They pulled 10 bluefins out of there on the troll before heading to the canyon. In the Hudson they anchored at the 100-square after spending 4 hours on the troll in the afternoon with nothing.
The 48 fished Monday to Tuesday and got their shot at the big-eye bite in the Hudson when that hooked up to 5 big-eyes after a couple hours on the troll in the Hudson Canyon at 26112 43102. The 60 Ritchie Howell fished Tuesday and got into a nice bite seeing 3 whites and catching and releasing everyone on Wednesday they only saw one white in the pattern and it never took a bite, and on Friday they had one white release.
Capt. Phil Dulanie and Ryan DiBaggio and Deane Lambros took the 48 Canyon Runner out on Friday to the inshore bluefin grounds and got into fish immediately. Around 11pm that had their over fish hooking a 54 bluefin on a bait hung at 15 feet under a balloon.
Capt. Mark DeBlasio, Capt. Peter Doran and Ryan DiBaggio took the 48 Canyon Runner offshore on Tuesday to Wednesday for an overnighter but stopped at the Princess first at 532 302 and picked a 50 pound bluefin on the troll before heading offshore. Up on the troll in the morning they trolled all the way to the Lindy without a touch.
They trolling the 100-square first and pick a fish but the water moved out so they ran down to the 26160 43050 area and found a nice 70-78 degree break and the yellowfin in it. They trolled the canyon until 3pm when they decided to run inshore to the Atlantic Princess and pick some bluefin.
We set up for the chunk bite and gave it hell through night and finally got the yellowfin to turn on to the meat. Up on the troll in the morning we added another 2 bigger 50-70 pound yellowfin and a bunch more smaller for a total of 29 yellowfin for the trip.
They stopped short and found about 15 schools of 40-60 bluefins and quickly trolled five just keeping there under and off to the claw they went to try to get an over size limit fish, but produced a slow afternoon. Arriving to the wilmington late they had a small blue marlin but jumped off quickly.
